FROM THE UROLOGY CARE FOUNDATION: Rock ‘N’ Roll With the Urology Care Foundation!

By: Harris M. Nagler, DC, FACS, President, Urology Care Foundation | Posted on: 06 Apr 2023

If you are attending AUA2023 in Chicago, you will not want to miss the Foundation Benefit—a casual night of rock ‘n’ roll at Buddy Guy’s Legends, Chicago’s premier blues venue. Connect with colleagues and enjoy an amazing evening for a great cause!

Blues, soul, and rock ‘n’ roll will be the soundtrack for an electrifying evening of legendary music, comfort food for the soul, and networking with the best in urology. The leadership of the AUA and Urology Care Foundation will be in attendance, offering you a valuable opportunity to connect with colleagues, advocates, and esteemed leaders in the field of urology. Legends is minutes away from the McCormick Place Convention Center, easily accessible by taxi, bus, and the “L” trains.

Music fans from all over the world come to Buddy Guy’s Legends to be immersed in the history of rhythm and blues and to experience the music inspired by Rock & Roll Hall of Fame bluesman Buddy Guy. Hailing from the Baton Rouge area, Buddy brought his family’s recipes to Chicago to make the blues experience more complete. Food and beverages will include passed appetizers and food stations with 3-hour beer and wine open bar, soul food cuisine, and bourbon tasting. Entertainment will feature Chicago rhythm and blues band The Nu Blu and Buddy’s daughter Carlise, a selfie station/photo opportunities, and an auction of Buddy Guy’s autographed guitar.

In memory of his brother and former bandmate, Buddy Guy has become a national spokesman for prostate cancer awareness, calling for men to get screened as early as possible.

The evening’s program will highlight support of the Foundation’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives and the community impact the Foundation is making in underrepresented and minority communities through research, humanitarianism, and patient outreach and education worldwide.

Your support makes a difference:

  • Forty-eight research grants were awarded in 2022 to medical students, urology residents, and research scholars, totaling $1.58 million in grant support; 39% of new awardees were women and 27% were individuals underrepresented in urology.
  • Urology Care Foundation’s Public Education Council and committees completed 190 projects in 2022, and more than 600 patient education pieces are now available for download, including more than 300 now translated into 9 different languages.
  • Twelve new Humanitarian Endowments have been established, providing grants to address health disparities in underserved populations both within and outside the United States.

Thank you to our presenting sponsors, Janssen, Myovant, and Promaxo.
