AUA LEADERSHIP PROGRAM 2023-2024 AUA Leadership Class: Reza Mehrazin

By: Reza Mehrazin MD, FACS, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, New York | Posted on: 30 Aug 2023

I am grateful for the honor of representing the New York Section for the 2023-2024 Leadership Program of the AUA. I owe much of what I have achieved to mentors who I met during medical school, residency, and fellowship training who were committed to my education and success. These mentors, who are leaders in the field of urology, have instilled in me the desire to likewise become a leader and help pave the way for future leaders and improve quality of care in our field.

As someone who has consistently attended the AUA meetings, even prior to beginning residency, I value the AUA’s contribution to bringing urologists together for the shared goal of improving health care and exchanging ideas. I am looking forward to this Leadership Program to help me develop a deep understanding of my own strengths, weaknesses, and leadership style. By gaining self-awareness, I can leverage my strengths to their fullest potential and work on areas that need improvement.

This leadership program will provide a platform to better understand the educational aims and goals of the AUA, collaborate and network with leaders in our field, offer solutions for challenges in our field, and allow me to get involved in an organization that has been crucial to my professional growth. I am looking forward to learning from and working with the other members of my leadership team and our mentor, Dr Larry Goldenberg, over the next year.
